The Mathematics Education program is involved in the Middle
School Mathematics Project through a $5.8 million Inter-agency
Educational Research Initiative grant of which $1.6 million supports our
work at Texas A&M. The
project is a five-year research study on how to provide professional
development and continuing support to teachers while studying the
implementation of middle grades textbooks. Motivated mathematics education
students will find participation in this project so productive that their
thesis or dissertation can be a result of participation in the project.
