Engagement
National and International Service. My service as Board Member, President and Past President of ISTE from 2004 to 2010 (now 100,000 affiliate members strong) ended in June 2010. My ISTE leadership has been an extraordinary part of my professional engagement.
I’ve chaired a number of national and international ISTE leadership and digital equity symposia. I’m most pleased with my co-authorship on the commissioned report on digital equity (Davis, T., Fuller, M., Jackson, S., Pittman, J., & Sweet, J., 2007). "A National Consideration of Digital Equity" report was an outgrowth of the 2006 ISTE Digital Equity Summit.
I was also honored to receive a national Presidential [Obama] Service Award at the highest level (Gold) in 2009 in Washington, DC.
My continued work as Associate Editor for the School Science and Mathematics Journal has also been rewarding and a great opportunity to work with colleagues in my Mathematics Education program area.
The SSM is an international journal which is published monthly, October through May, emphasizing research on issues, concerns, and lessons within and between the disciplines of science and mathematics in the classroom.
